Editorial Review

Anyone who already has the first edition of "Metal-Catalyzed Cross-Coupling Reactions" will be truly amazed by the second edition. The book covers several additional reactions and synthesis concepts, and has been thoroughly revised. For this second edition, which could really be considered a completely new work, the editors have succeeded in getting the most acknowledged experts in the field, and in setting rather high standards of quality.

The latest mechanistic findings are discussed in detail, and new catalysts and reaction conditions are introduced. Some authors have given attention to examples of applications for particular cross-couplings, or have even described newly developed synthetic methods for several Main Group organometallics (e.g. boron, zinc and magnesium compounds) that are used as reaction partners in these coupling reactions. Thus, the reader obtains an extensive overview of the current developments in the area. An impressive finale is provided for most of the chapters in the form of a section on synthesis examples; indeed, it is regrettable that this feature is absent in a few of the chapters.

This tome is a great pleasure to read, offers the newest findings, and introduces a rich palette of options for chemists to exploit in their own experimental work. "Metal-Catalyzed Cross-Coupling Reactions" is a state of the art resource that can be recommended without reservation.
