Abstract
N,N-Dimethyl-β-alanine is a more powerful phosphine-free ligand than the previously reported ligand, N,N-dimethylglycine in the Pd-catalyzed Heck reaction of various aryl bromides, aryl iodides, and activated aryl chlorides. Kinetic and theoretical studies are discussed.
