Abstract

ZnI₂ and FeCl₃ mediate a direct approach to the selective and regiocontrolled synthesis of 2-oxazolines and 2-oxazoles in very good yields under mild reaction conditions by cyclization of acetylenic amides. Various functionalities were well tolerated.
