Abstract
Osmium tetraoxide can be easily immobilized on a commercially available chelate resin DIAION CR11 in a methanol solution at room temperature. The resulting purple solid showed no volatility, and effectively catalyzed the oxidation of various alkenes to the corresponding diols.
