Abstract

2,2,2-Trifluoroacetophenone as organocatalyst enables a cheap, highly efficient, and selective synthesis of sulfoxides and sulfones starting from sulfides in the presence of H₂O₂ as the oxidant. The selectivity depends on the reaction conditions.
