Abstract

Sulfonyl azides can be used as efficient sulfonyl donors. A trifluoromethanesulfonic acid-induced formation of reactive sulfonyl cations from sulfonyl azides followed by coupling with various arenes provides aryl sulfones at ambient temperature.
