Abstract
A combined visible light and base system initiates a radical-mediated hydrogenation of aryl fluorides, chlorides, bromides, and iodides to the corresponding (hetero)arenes with excellent yields under mild conditions. This simple and efficient transition-metal-free hydrogenation tolerates various functional groups.
