CuI catalyzes a convenient intermolecular N-arylation of hydrazides with para- and meta-substituted aryl iodides in the presence Cs2CO3. A reversal in regioselectivity is observed for the arylation of benzoic hydrazide with ortho-substituted aryl iodides.
