Abstract
A Zn(OTf)2-catalyzed coupling of alcohols/phenols with unactivated tertiary alkyl bromides and a Cu(OTf)2-catalyzed thiolation of unactivated tertiary alkyl oxalates with thiols provide sterically hindered tertiary alkyl ethers and thioethers.
