Abstract

A palladium-catalyzed methylsulfonylation of alkyl halides with dimethyl sulfite enables an efficient synthesis of methyl sulfone derivatives. A variety of aryl and alkyl iodides underwent the sulfonylation smoothly to furnish methyl sulfones in good yields.
