Abstract

A N-trifluoromethylation of nitriles with PhICF₃Cl followed by DMAP-catalyzed capture with N-, O-, or S-centered nucleophiles enables an efficient synthesis of a wide range of N-CF₃ amidines, imidates, and thioimidates.
