Abstract

An efficient SN2' reaction of Morita-Baylis-Hillman (MBH) esters with sulfonyl anions, generated in situ via detrifluoroacetylation, provides β,γ-unsaturated sulfones. The reaction features operational simplicity, wide substrate scope, high yields, and excellent stereoselectivity.
