Abstract

In homogeneous H2O/solvent, the reaction rate of the Baylis-Hillman reaction of aromatic aldehydes and acrylonitriles or acrylates was greatly accelerated. Me3N, DMAP, DABCO, and urotropine were found to be good catalysts.
