Abstract

Friedel-Crafts acylation of electron-rich aromatic compounds has been successfully carried out in the presence of graphite and MeSO₃H. Both aromatic and aliphatic carboxylic acids reacted smoothly under the conditions to afford the corresponding aromatic ketones in high yield.
