Abstract

The Sonogashira reaction proceeds efficiently at ambient temperature in acetone or 1,3-di-n-butylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([bbim]BF4, a room-temperature ionic liquid) under ultrasound irradiation in the absence of a copper cocatalyst and a phosphine ligand.
