Synthesis of hypervalent iodine(V) compounds
Recent Literature
A facile ruthenium-catalyzed methodology for the preparation of pentavalent
iodine compounds uses peracetic acid as an oxidant. The new procedure allows the
preparation of iodylarenes bearing strongly electron-withdrawing groups.

Stable, microcrystalline 2-iodylphenol ethers were prepared by the
dimethyldioxirane oxidation of the corresponding 2-iodophenol ethers.
2-Iodylphenol ethers can selectively oxidize sulfides to sulfoxides and
alcohols to the respective aldehydes or ketones.
